Privacy & Data Policy

Our Commitment to You

At Ideal Finance, we know that your financial data is sensitive. We are committed to being transparent about how we use your information in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. Our goal is to secure you the best loan while keeping your data safe.

What We Collect (And Why)

To get your loan approved, we need a clear picture of your financial health. We collect:

  • Identity Basics: Your name, contact info, and ID documents to prove you are who you say you are.

  • Financial Profile: Your income, bank statements, and employment history so we can advocate for you to lenders.

  • Third-Party Data: Sometimes we receive your details from a car dealer or a partner website. If this happens, we will let you know where we got your info and why we have it, as required by the IPP 3A standards.

The "Deep Dive": Credit & ID Checks

By asking us to find you a loan, you give Ideal Finance the green light to:

  • Check your Credit: We’ll pull your report from Centrix, Equifax, or Illion. This helps us see which lenders are the best fit for you.

  • Verify your Identity: We use electronic tools to check your ID against databases like the NZTA Driver Licence Register and the Department of Internal Affairs.

Who Sees Your Information?

We don’t sell your data to random telemarketers. We only share it with:

  • Lenders: We send your "deal pack" to banks and finance companies to get you an offer. Once they have it, their own privacy rules apply.

  • Support Services: Our secure cloud storage and AML verification partners who help us run our business.

  • The Law: Only if we are legally forced to by a government agency.

Keeping Your Data Safe

  • We use bank-level encryption and secure servers (some of which may be based overseas) to store your files. We keep your records for 7 years, which is the standard legal requirement for financial services in NZ.

You’re in Control

  • You have the right to see what we have on file for you and ask us to fix any mistakes. We promise to handle any request within 20 working days.
